Full, juicy lips are all the rage — as long as they aren’t on black faces.
That’s one of the false conclusions that can be drawn from the haters that went hard on MAC Cosmetics’ Instagram page when it posted a photo of a dark-skinned black women in deep purple lipstick.
The hate was strong when the picture was first posted.
The model’s plump lips being compared to all kind of ridiculous things, ’cause you know, kissable lips are somehow unattractive.
The love has since been very strong and has buried the hate it takes far to long to reach comments like “Unfollow” from @courtneyjune and “Holy (expletive) I thought this was Jay Z” from @formeaganseyesonly (via blackgirllonghair.com).
Instead you get things like “Beauty comes in every colour, shape and size … why are people so stupid?? we are in 2016!! Let’s spread (love) not hate” from Okglory._ and “What a gorgeous photo!” by @virginiahampton.
The account is now flooded with thousands of clapback comments from supporters of #blackgirlmagic, diversity and womankind in general.
The fact is that haters are losing and grabbing on to nonsense at this point.
It is a wrap and they don’t even know it.
Beauty comes in all shades, and it is becoming harder and harder to deny that fact. It is great that companies like Mac are realizing that.
