This is the sort of triple team action we love to see.
Dayton Police Officer Jermar Rayford squares up against three kids in a basketball video shared on Facebook with our partners over at WHIO.
Dayton police Lt. Andrew Booher called it a great example of the police department philosophy, demonstrating the relationship officers should work to build.
They don’t always know the impact they can have on young people, Booher said.
“We want to take opportunities with the community, especially with the kids,” he told me. “That short conversation may be what sets them on a different path.”
Rayford, a Dayton native, joined the PD nine months ago and works nights in the East Patrol Operation Division.
He is among the officers who plays basketball at Dayton schools.
He and other officers will participate the Reds Rookie Success League for local students.
Way to go Officer Rayford!
