Kettering man wins Grammy gold

Krazy like a Kardashian Kanye West many have stolen much of the limelight at Sunday’s Grammy’s when he slammed Beck, but a local man is certainty glowing today.

Kettering-based artist Don Pendleton was part of the team that won the Grammy in the”Best Recording Package” category Sunday for work on Pearl Jam’s “Lightning Bolt.”

The band congratulated Pendleton and the rest of the award-winning team: Pearl Jam’s bassist Jeff Ament and band art directors Joe Spix and Jerome Turner.

The packaging is pretty cool indeed.

Pendleton, a native of Ravenswood, West Virginia, and Ament  developed a relationship in 2009 when Ament bought some of Pendleton’s artwork, according to the Herald-Dispatch in Huntington, West Virginia. Pendleton is a 1994 graduate of Marshall University and like Ament,  a skateboarder.

Pearl Jam used Pendleton work on the album cover art as well as to illustrate each song.
